January 29 (SeeNews) - A day-ahead bidding by Kosovo power market operators on the Albania-Kosovo power exchange, Alpex, will begin on Monday, Alpex announced a few hours before the start of bidding.
The energy traded on Monday will be delivered on February 1, Alpex said in a social media post.
Alpex was founded by Albanian power grid operator OST and Kosovo’s KOSTT in October 2020 and held its first Albania bidding in April 2023. An Albania-Kosovo market coupling is pending regulatory approval.
Earlier in January, Alpex welcomed its fourth member for the Kosovo bidding zone, Kosovo's state-owned electricity supplier Kesco. The Albanian bidding zone of Alpex has 16 members.
In November, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Alpex, Greece's Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO), the Greek energy regulator, and North Macedonia’s power transmission company MEPSO, with the aim of establishing a unified day-ahead electricity market.
