January 11 (SeeNews) - Albania-Kosovo power exchange Alpex said on Thursday that Kosovo's state-owned electricity supplier Kesco became the fourth member of Kosovo bidding zone.
Kesco is joining the day-ahead market of the power exchange, Alpex said in a social media post.
Last year, Kosovo state-owned energy corporation KEK, power grid operator KOSTT and energy producer Iber-Lepenc became the first members of the Kosovo bidding zone on Alpex. The Albanian bidding zone of Alpex has 16 members.
Alpex was founded by Albanian power grid operator OST and Kosovo’s KOSTT in October 2020 and held its first Albania bidding in April 2023. An Albania-Kosovo market coupling is pending regulatory approval.
Back in November, Alpex, Greece's Independent Power Transmission Operator IPTO, the Greek energy regulator, and North Macedonia’s power transmission company MEPSO signed a Memorandum of Understanding on establishing a common day-ahead electricity market.
