December 18 (SeeNews) - Croatian privately-held food-to-retail concern Agrokor said it has opened a Super Konzum shopping center in the country's capital Zagreb.
The new Konzum shopping complex has replaced a former Mercator center following the acquisition of the namesake Slovenian retailer by Agrokor, the Croatian company said in a press release on Thursday.
"The opening of the modern Super Konzum on the site of the former Mercator once again justifies the merger of two large companies," Konzum president Darko Knez said.
Knez added that over the past 20 days, Konzum has allocated 60 million kuna ($8.5 million/7.8 million euro) on two new investments - Konzum's new online store and the Super Konzum shopping center.
The acquisition of Mercator by Agrokor created one of the largest retail companies in Central and Eastern Europe with over 64,000 employees.
