December 7 (SeeNews) - Pharmaceutical company Zentiva Romania [BSE:SCD] said on Monday it has started the production of hand disinfectants for the population in order to meet increased demand for them during the coronavirus pandemic, Zentiva said in a press release.
"We are constantly and rapidly adapting to the evolution of the pandemic and to other changes in the health sector. We have modified production flows in order to ensure the availability of prescription drugs for the treatment of both new coronavirus infections and chronic diseases," Zentiva general manager for Romania and Moldova, Simona Cucos, said.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Zentiva Romania has produced hand sanitizers exclusively for the needs of its own employees and health professionals in hospitals.
"The biocides for the population that we are manufacturing now are part of the policy adopted by the company during this period, namely to ensure the availability and accessibility of such products in Romania," Cucos added.
Romania has confirmed 517,236 cases of the COVID-19 infection and 12,447 deaths as of Monday.
Zentiva Romania's shares traded flat at 2.88 lei ($0.72/ 0.59 euro) on the Bucharest Stock Exchange by 0912 CET.
