SKOPJE (Macedonia), November 25 (SeeNews) – The Macedonian unit of World Teleconnect International Holding will launch telephone services probably in the second or the third quarter of next year, the company’s CEO said on Thursday.
Earlier this month, WTI Macedonia was licenced by the local telecoms regulator to become the first virtual mobile operator in the country, obtaining 100,000 phone numbers to provide services through a leased network.
The company is still negotiating which network to use, WTI Macedonia CEO Johan Helmond said at a news conference.
He added that the company will also offer fixed-line services.
Netherlands-based World Teleconnect International Holding (www.worldteleconnect.com) is a global communications service provider offering wholesale and retail telephony services by means of conventional circuit-switched and Internet protocol (VoIP) technologies.
WTI Macedonia will compete with three wireless operators: Magyar Telekom-owned Т-Mobile Macedonia, ONE, part of Telekom Slovenije, and Telekom Austria’s Vip Operator.
World Teleconnect International Holding aims to become one of the top ten world-wide wholesale telecom suppliers in the next four years, with expected revenue of 300-400 million euro ($400-$534 million), its CEO Hans van Helden told the same news conference.
Macedonia is the first country in Southeast Europe in which WTI has set foot. The company has offices in Frankfurt (Germany), Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and Pittsburgh (USA).
