March 12 (SeeNews) - The World Bank has proposed to provide $20 million (18 million euro) in financing to support Serbia in dealing with the consequences of the coronavirus crisis on the economy, prime minister Ana Brnabic said on Thursday.
The World Bank has sent a letter to the Serbian government this morning saying it has an additional $20 million at its disposal which it can make available to Serbia to help it deal with the coronavirus consequences, Ana Brnabic told a news conference broadcast live on the YouTube channel of news agency Tanjug.
The funding may be used for any emergency measures to address the effects of the coronavirus spread, Brnabic said.
"For the time being, the sectors of Serbia's economy at highest risk are tourism, transport and logistics," she added.
"As for tourism, in February we decided to allocate from the current budget reserves financing for vouchers for Serbian citizens." Brnabic also said.
Serbia has so far confirmed 19 cases of the coronavirus infection in the country. Earlier this week, the Serbian government closed its borders for people coming from Italy, some provinces of China, South Korea, Iran, and parts of Switzerland to limit the spread of the disease.
