June 9 (SeeNews) - Albania's gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to increase by 4.4% in 2021, the World Bank said, maintaining its forecast made in April.
The country's economic growth is projected at 3.7% in each of the next two years, the World Bank said in the June edition of its Europe and Central Asia Economic Update report published on Tuesday.
However, Albania will continue to be affected by international travel restrictions, the World Bank noted, adding that medium-term growth should be accelerated by a faster implementation of structural reforms in preparation for EU membership, provided negotiations are no longer delayed.
Albania's GDP declined by 3.31% in 2020, the country's statistical office said in a preliminary estimate earlier this year.
The World Bank maintained its April forecast for a 4.4% GDP growth in the region of the Western Balkans in 2021.
