December 22 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government said on Thursday that employees of state-owned coal mining company Resavica have agreed to terminate a strike they launched earlier this month with demands for higher wages.
The ministries of mining and finance reached an agreement with the Resavica mine trade unions and will continue to work towards finding long-term solutions to the problems, seeking to optimise production, increase sustainability and improve working conditions at the mine, the government said in a statement.
Miners at Resavica launched the strike on December 19 with demands that their wages increase by at least 12.5% and their daily hot meal allowance is doubled to 400 dinars ($3.60/3.40 euro), local media reported.
