March 31 (SeeNews) - The U.S. has provided $1.1 million (1 million euro) to Kosovo to help the country fight the coronavirus and mitigate its effects, Philip Kosnett, US ambassador to Kosovo, said.
Kosovo is receiving the financial assistance as part of a US state department programme aimed at helping countries across the world fight COVID-19, Kosnett said in a video on Monday posted on Twitter.
Kosovo’s government said on Monday it approved a 179.6 million euro ($196.89 million) emergency package to support the coronavirus-affected sectors of the economy, boost health expenditures and assist socially vulnerable people.
Kosovo confirmed two new cases of the coronavirus disease on Tuesday, bringing the total number to 108, the national institute of public health said.
