April 1 (SeeNews) - The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has launched a preliminary anti-dumping probe into imports of common alloy aluminium sheet from 18 countries, including Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Turkey and Slovenia, it said.
The investigation aims to determine whether there is a reasonable indication that an industry in the U.S. is materially injured or threatened with material injury by reason of imports of common alloy aluminum sheet, ITC said in a notice on Tuesday.
The Commission launched the probe on March 9 and must reach a preliminary determination in antidumping and countervailing duty investigations in 45 days, or in this case by April 23, it said.
The investigations follow petitions filed by the U.S. Aluminum Association’s Common Alloy Aluminum Sheet Working Group, alleging that common alloy aluminium sheet imports from Bahrain, Brazil, Croatia, Egypt, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Oman, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, and Turkey are sold at less than fair value.
The association also accused the production of aluminium alloy to be subsidized by the governments of Bahrain, Brazil, India, and Turkey.
