March 18 (SeeNews) - US-based engine control systems manufacturer Woodword has started the construction of a 9 million lev ($5.2 million/4.6 million euro) plant for manufacturing of control system parts in Bulgaria's capital of Sofia, a company official said on Friday.
The project will be implemented in stages as it is expected to be completed in three years, Woodword's official told SeeNews by phone.
Until then the company will build the needed infrastructure install new equipment and train people. Currently, it employs 70 people and aims to expand its workforce to 190.
The produced aircraft control systems will be used by world's largest airplane manufacturers - Boeing and Airbus.
The plant will be situated in Sofia Airport Center, an office and logistics centre, which was recently acquired by London-based real estate manager group Revetas Capital.
