PODGORICA (Montenegro), September 30 (SeeNews) – Montenegro's gross domestic product (GDP) rose by a real 3.4% on the year in the second quarter of 2015 compared to a 0.3% increase a year earlier, preliminary data of the statistics office indicated on Wednesday.
The statistics office also released data for 2014, saying economic growth slowed down to a real 1.8% from 3.5% a year earlier.
The country’s GDP totaled 834 million euro ($936.5 million) at current prices in the second quarter of 2015, the statistics office said in a statement.
In the first quarter of 2015, Montenegro's GDP rose by a real 3.2% on the year.
Montenegro's GDP totalled 3.5 billion euro at current prices in 2014, compared to a revised 3.4 billion euro a year earlier, preliminary data showed. GDP per capita amounted to 5,561 euro at current prices in 2014, compared to a revised 5,412 euro a year earlier.
The government has said it expects Montenegro’s economy to expand by 3.5% in 2015.
Montenegro has a population of around 620,000.
