July 6 (SeeNews) - Croatia's government has accepted the resignation of deputy prime minister and finance minister Zdravko Maric and will appoint university professor Marko Primorac to the position as of July 15, prime minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Wednesday.
“I believe that we had excellent cooperation, and together we maintained stability [...] Maric made a huge contribution to the economic development and the financial stability,” Plenkovic said during a televised news conference.
Maric will disclose his reasons to leave the cabinet on Thursday, the prime minister added.
Primorac, who is not member of Plenkovic's conservative party HDZ, was supported for the post of finance minister by HDZ and the parliamentary majority led by HDZ on Wednesday. He will be presented to Parliament next Wednesday.
Maric has been finance minister for six and a half years and deputy prime minister since 2019.
