May 15 (SeeNews) - Turkey's prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said a local company will partner with US oil major Exxon Mobil in oil exploration in northern Iraq's Kurdistan region, Turkish media reported.
The Kurdistan Regional Government has agreed that Exxon and a Turkish company explore for oil in northern Iraq, news daily Hurriyet quoted Erdogan as telling reporters upon his departure to the US on Tuesday. The issue will feature on the agenda of Erdogan's talks during his visit in the US.
Exxon signed production sharing contracts for six oil exploration blocks in the Kurdistan region in October 2011.
