April 2 (SeeNews) - Turkish Airlines [IST:THYAO] said it has extended the cancellation of its international flights and will continue to operate only part of domestic flights until May 1 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Only domestic flights to Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Diyarbakir, Erzurum, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir, Kayseri, Konya, Malatya, Samsun, Trabzon and Van will be operated on a limited basis, the Turkish flag carrier said in a notice on Wednesday.

Previously, the restriction was set to remain in force until April 17.

Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said last week that all international flights are being suspended indefinitely in an effort to contain the coronavirus outbreak, Anadolu news agency reported.

The country's health minister Fahrettin Koca said that the number of coronavirus cases in Turkey has risen to 15,679 as of Wednesday, with confirmed deaths from the infection reaching 277, local Sabah Daily reported.
