July 14 (SeeNews) - Turkey's unemployment rate fell to 13.2% in March, down by 0.6 percentage points (pp) compared to the previous month, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said.
Unemployed people aged 15 years and over exceeded 4.23 million in the fifth month of 2021, a decrease of 265,000 compared to April, TurkStat said in a statement earlier this week.
The employment rate went down 0.4 pp month-on-month in March to 43.8%, or 27.8 million people.
Turkey's labour force decreased by 481,000 on a monthly comparison basis to 32.8 million in May. The labour force participation rate declined by 0.8 pp to 50.5%.
The unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group went down 2.0 pp to 24% in May. The employment rate in this age group edged up 0.1 pp compared to April, to 31.9%.
