May 6 (SeeNews) - Turkey's car exports plunged 77% year-on-year in April to $596 million (551.6 million euro) due to the coronavirus pandemic, local media reported on Wednesday, citing data by Uludag Automotive Exporters' Association (OIB).
Passenger car exports alone fell by 86% on the year to $132 million in April, Anadolu Agency reported. The automotive supply industry booked a drop by 63% to $342 million.
Car exports to the EU decreased by 81% to $377 million in April. Exports to the UK declined by 90.5% and exports to France were down 82% compared with the same month last year. Turkish companies posted a 70% annual drop in exports to the U.S. and a 60% decline in exports to Germany in April, according to the report.
Turkey's overall exports were down by an annual 27% to $7.6 billion in the January-April period
