November 25 (SeeNews) - Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday the country plans to roll out a locally developed Covid-19 vaccine by April next year at the latest.
Meanwhile, vaccinations with vaccines pre-ordered from foreign companies are expected to start by the end of December, Turkey's presidency quoted Erdogan as saying at a meeting with the Justice and Development (AK) Party's parliamentary group.
Turkey is closely following the vaccines being developed in China, Russia, the U.S. and the EU, Erdogan added.
Last week, Turkish media quoted health minister Fahrettin Koca as saying that the country was in talks with U.S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer for the supply of Pfizer's anti-Covid-19 vaccine. Under a potential deal, Pfizer could deliver a million dozes of the vaccine in December and an additional 25 million doses in 2021, Daily Sabah quoted Koca as saying.
