January 27 (SeeNews) - Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Bulgaria, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swedish engineered polymer solutions group Trelleborg, is in the process of constructing a new building at its production base in Pernik, near Sofia, which will increase its manufacturing capacity more than twofold, a company spokesperson told SeeNews.
The expanded plant is expected to start operations by the end of the year and will create 150 jobs in the medium term, the spokesperson said in an emailed statement without specifying the size of the investment, or the plant's capacity.
"The facility was significantly extended in 2019, and will expand to 5,300 square meters to support the continued rapid growth of the site’s core business," the spokesperson noted.
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Bulgaria's manufacturing facility in Pernik opened in 2011. The site produces liquid silicone rubber molded and multicomponent sealing solutions for industries including automotive, and food and beverage.
Bulgarian contractor Barage Group is in charge of the construction, Pernik municipality said in a social media post after works formally kicked off last week.
Sweden's Trelleborg acquired the outstanding 50% of the shares in Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Silcotech Bulgaria in 2015.
