SKOPJE (Macedonia), February 12 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in 2019 increased by 7.1% year-on-year to 757,593, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
The number of domestic tourists rose 1.9% to 427,370 last year, Makstat said in a statement.
The total number of tourists staying in the country in the review period increased by 5.1% year-on-year, reaching 1,184,963.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in North Macedonia in 2019 period rose to 3,262,398, up 2.7% on 2018.
In December alone, the total number of tourists staying in North Macedonia increased by 8.7% year-on-year to 61,468, including 40,627 foreign nationals.
Out of the total number of foreign tourists who visited North Macedonia in December, 18.4% came from Bulgaria, 13.9% from Greece and 10.8% from Serbia.
