SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), August 3 (SeeNews) – Three employees of Bosnia's state-controlled power utility Elektroprivreda BiH have died in an accident at the utility's Una Kostela hydro power plant, police said on Friday.
A fourth employee, found in the room where the accident occurred on Thursday, is currently being treated in a medical center in the town of Bihac, the police force of Una Sana Canton said in a statement.
Another seven persons were reported to have problems with breathing, which were characterized as minor injuries, and have been hospitalised for monitoring.
According to police, a strong smell of gas was felt from the room where the workers were located.
It is believed the employees were cleaning the power plant's drainage system when the accident occurred.
An investigation into the causes of the accident has been launched.
Una Kostela hydro power plant, with an installed capacity of 13.7 MW, is located near the town of Bihac.
Elektroprivreda BiH operates in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of the two parts of postwar Bosnia. The other is the Serb Republic.
