BELGRADE (Serbia), January 9 (SeeNews) – Telenor Serbia, part of Norwegian telecommunications group Telenor, invested over 5.0 billion dinars ($61 million/48 million euro) in new equipment in 2011, local media reported.
The telecoms carrier, which also has a fixed-line permit, will continue to invest in fiber-optic deployments and is ready to connect landline subscribers, broadcaster b92 (www.b92.rs) reported on Sunday, quoting the company's director general in Serbia, Kjell Morten Jonsen.
The carrier's mobile subscription base totalled 3.138 million at end-September.
Telenor's local wireless unit competes on the Serbian market of some 7.3 million people with Telekom Srbija's mobile arm, Mobilna Telefonija Srbije, and Vip Mobile, a unit of Telekom Austria Group.
