February 23 (SeeNews) - Telekom Romania Mobile, an indirect subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, said on Thursday that its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased by a quarter year-on-year in 2022, to 38 million euro ($40.4 million).
The company’s total revenues fell by 2.9% on the year in 2022, to 306.4 million euro, Telekom Romania Mobile said in a press release.
Telekom Romania’s customer base increased by 12.9% last year, to 4.16 million clients.
At the end of 2022, the company had 1.85 million postpaid subscribers, up by an annual 6.9%, and 2.31 prepaid users, up 18.2% on the year.
“The company’s results are very good in a difficult market environment. We will continue to develop the cost efficiency programme and we will rapidly adapt to the ever-changing business conditions,” Dina Tsybulskaya, CEO of Telekom Romania Mobile, said.
In 2022, Telekom Romania improved its network quality in over 1,200 areas with over 10.6 million inhabitants, expanding its 4G coverage to over 98% of the population.
The company said it will continue to connect its base stations to photovoltaic panels, replacing current energy sources with renewables, as it already powered 15% of its base stations in this manner.
In 2021, Greece’s Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE) purchased Telekom Mobile Romania from its then parent company, Telekom Communications Romania.
