SKOPJE (Macedonia), October 27 (SeeNews) – Macedonian wireless carrier, Vip Operator DOOEL Skopje, owned by Telekom Austria, said on Tuesday it will launch a mobile communications service via Internet as early as next week.
“Vip communicator is the first such service on the Macedonian market, which enables free calls via Internet with the entire VIP network, but also with subscribers of other wireless operators in the country and abroad,” Vip said in a statement distributed to journalists at a news conference.
Vip’s revenues rose by an annual 111.6% to 9.1 million euro ($13.5 million) in the second quarter, Telekom Austria said earlier.
Vip operator, the third largest mobile operator in Macedonia, had 224,400 customers at the end of June compared to 209,200 a year earlier. The operator’s subscriber market share was 11.95% at the end of the second quarter, compared to 9.93% a year ago, the Agency for Electronic Communications (AEK) said earlier.
VIP Operator competes with Magyar Telekom's local unit, Т-Mobile Macedonia, and with Telekom Slovenije-owned Cosmofon AD in the country of two million people.
Besides VIP Operator (www.vip.mk), the wireless operations of Telekom Austria group (www.telecom.at) include Bulgaria's Mobiltel, Velcom in Belarus, Mobilkom Austria, Croatia's Vipnet, Slovenia's Si.mobil and Serbia's Vip mobile.
