April 28 (SeeNews) - The Swedish government is extending a 2.5 million euro ($2.6 million) grant to Bosnia and Herzegovina for the construction of a regional solid-waste landfill site in the Tuzla Canton, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said.
The grant complements a 5 million euro loan approved by the EBRD in 2019 and additional 360,000 euro provided by the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) for the project, the EBRD said.
The new landfill will serve three municipalities - Zivinice, Banovici and Kladanj, with a total population of around 95,000.
Regional solid-waste company Eko-Sep is managing the ongoing construction of the new landfill site.
Tuzla Canton is one of the 10 cantons of the Federation, one of Bosnia's two constituent entities. The other is the Serb Republic.
