August 24 (SeeNews) - Solaris Bus & Coach, a unit of Spain's Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF), said on Tuesday it has delivered 16 electric buses to the Romanian city of Craiova and three trolleybuses to the city of Medias.
The 16 electric buses were delivered to the municipality of Craiova under a 57.5 million lei ($13.7 million/ 11.7 million euro) contract signed in 2020, Solaris said in a press release.
The new Urbino 18 type electric buses can carry up to 134 passengers.
Under the contract, Solaris also delivered 16 slow-charging stations and four fast-charging stations to the city of Craiova.
The three trolleybuses were delivered to Medias under a 6 million lei contract signed last year. The Solaris Trollino 12 can carry up to 91 passengers.
Currently, over 300 Solaris vehicles are used for public transport in the Romanian cities of Craiova, Cluj-Napoca, Pitesti, Brasov, Satu Mare, Galati, Baia Mare, Oradea and Medias. In addition, more than 200 green vehicles will be delivered in the next 12 months to municipalities in Romania.
CAF is a manufacturer of rolling stock and railway equipment listed on the Spanish stock market.
