January 6 (SeeNews) - The blue-chip SOFIX index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) closed 0.51% higher at 646.97 points on Thursday, mainly supported by a 6.84% rise in the share price of battery manufacturer Monbat [BUL:MONB], bourse data showed.
As many as 6,846 shares in Monbat changed hands at an average price of 5.9956 levs on Thursday, BSE data showed.

Monbat's gain also supported a rise in the BGBX40 index, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the Sofia bourse, and the BGTR30 index, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight. The BGBX40 added 0.05% to 145.04 points, while the BGTR30 advanced by 0.14% to 689.04 points.
The BGREIT index, which tracks seven real estate investment trusts, closed 0.07% lower at 161.67 points due to a 0.34% drop in the share price of Advance Terrafund REIT [BUL:ATER].
Total turnover on the BSE's main market fell to 373,122 levs ($215,800/190,774 euro) from 717,500 levs on Wednesday.
