LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), September 26 (SeeNews) – Slovenian insurer Zavarovalnica Triglav [LJE:ZVTG] said on Friday its real estate unit Triglav Uupravljanje Nepremicnin is in talks to sell a land plot in Ljubljana to Swedish home furnishings retailer IKEA.
The land plot is located in the BTC mixed-use area in the Slovenian capital, Triglav said in a statement filed with the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.
In April, IKEA South East Europe's public relations manager for Croatia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia, Igor Stefanac, told SeeNews the company was in talks on a possible location in Ljubljana for its first store in Slovenia and that one of the options on the table is a location near the BTC retail center.
"One IKEA store scenario we believe is just enough given the size of the Slovenian market and locations of stores in the nearby countries," the official added at the time.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, IKEA is already present in Turkey, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia.
