September 6 (SeeNews) - Slovenian steel group Slovenska Industrija Jekla (SIJ) has recorded a consolidated net profit of 14.2 million euro ($15.2 million) in the first half of 2023, it said on Wednesday.
The sales revenue of SIJ declined by 17.6% on the year to 601.5 million euro in the first half of 2023, whereas earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) came in at 53.7 million euro, SIJ said in a press release.
The EBITDA margin of SIJ amounted to 8.9% in the first half of 2023, SIJ said.
"The SIJ Group’s business results were down compared to the first half of the previous year but comparable to the first half of 2021, when the economy was not affected by special operational circumstances," SIJ noted.
In 2022, SIJ passed on high energy prices to its customers, which resulted in higher sales revenues. The group recorded a net profit of 52.4 million euro in the first half of 2022, up from 10.0 million euro in the like period of the previous year, while net sales grew to 61.7% on the year to 730.4 million euro.
