March 13 (SeeNews) - Slovenian provider of solutions in high tech lab equipment and process analysis Labena said on Monday it has launched the first regional accelerator for startups in the sectors of biotechnology, pharmacy, and healthcare in central and eastern Europe.
The platform named Labena Ventures will provide startups and individuals with access to more than 100 million euro ($107 million) of investments, to be sourced from different investors, the Croatian unit of Labena said in a press release.
Labena Ventures will be based in Slovenia and will cover 17 countries, including Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Bulgaria and Romania.
Within the project, startups, universities, research and development institutions, and individuals with innovative ideas will be able to solve the challenges of research, implementation and global marketing of new methods to develop safe and sustainable ways to diagnose and treat illnesses, and to improve food safety.
Labena has invested more than 100,000 euro in the project.
