LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), September 29 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant Krsko said on Thursday it will shut down for regular maintenance starting October 1.
The outage is planned to last approximately one month.
The operations will include refuelling, maintenance works and modernisation of machinery, equipment and structures, Krsko said in a statement.
The power plant holds regular maintenance works every 18 months. The plant delivered 8.23 million MWh of electricity to the grid over the 18-month fuel cycle.
Krsko beat its 2015 production target by 0.8%, generating a net 5,370 GWh, but fell 11.4% short of the record-high production achieved in 2014.
Krsko was built in Slovenia near the border with Croatia in the 1970s, when the two countries were still part of the former Yugoslavia. The two neighbours share the power plant's output.
