December 2 (SeeNews) - Slovenian white goods maker Gorenje [LJE:GRVG] plans to invest 12 million euro ($12.8 million) into the expansion of its refrigerator and freezer manufacturing operations in Serbia's Valjevo, Serbian prime minister Aleksandar Vucic said.
Gorenje intends to open additional 300 jobs in Valjevo, in central Serbia, Vucic said in a statement on Thursday.
The company has produced some five million freezers and refrigerators at its two factories in Valjevo so far, Valjevo municipality said in a separate statement.
Gorenje launched the first refrigerator and freezer factory in Valjevo in 2006. The second factory, put on stream in 2013 following an investment of 21 million euro, can produce 800,000 units annually.
The Slovenian company has a total of 2,540 employees in Serbia, including 1,780 in Valjevo, Vucic said.
In Serbia, Gorenje also has factories in Stara Pazova and Zajecar.
