February 2 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's trade balance deficit shrank to 2.051 billion euro ($2.231 billion) in 2023, from 3.835 billion euro in the previous year, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Exports in 2023 grew 4.4% on the year to 54.920 billion euro, while imports edged up 0.6% to 56.971 billion euro, the statistical office, SURS, said in a statement.
The European Union was Slovenia’s main trading partner in 2023, absorbing 30.513 billion euro of the country's exports and providing 31.856 billion euro of its imports.
In December alone, Slovenia's exports went down 2.4% on the year to 3.905 billion euro, while imports declined 15.6% to 3.848 billion euro, resulting in a 57.6 million euro trade surplus for the month.
