April 19 (SeeNews) - The combined pre-tax profit of commercial banks in Slovenia fell 1.7% year-on-year to 52.3 million euro ($56.4 million) in the first two months of 2022, the central bank said.
Banks' gross income increased by 5.6% as a result of both positive growth in net interest and non-interest income by 3.6% and 8.6%, respectively, the central bank said in a report released last week.
"Among non-interest income, relatively high growth in net fees and commissions continued (13.8%). With a 4.1% increase in operating expenses, banks' net income rose by a tenth year-on-year (9.9%)," the central bank said.
The banks' total assets grew to 48.361 billion euro as at end-February, down 13.8% on the year.
