November 18 (SeeNews) - Passenger numbers at North Macedonia’s international airports in Skopje and Ohrid rose by 66% year-on-year in the ten months through October, reaching 1.14 million, Aeroports de Paris (ADP) said.
ADP owns 46% of Turkey’s TAV Airports, the company operating the airports in North Macedonia's capital and the lakeside city of Ohrid.
In October alone, the two international airports served 149,939 passengers, up by 94,752 passengers compared to October 2020, ADP said in a statement on Wednesday.
In the 12 months through October passenger traffic rose 16% to 1.2 million.
Aircraft movements at the two airports rose 64% on the year to 12,573 in the January-October period, while in the 12 months to end-October the figure increased by an annual 30% to 13,921. In October alone, aircraft movements at the airports reached 1,370, up by 657 compared to the same month last year.
North Macedonia confirmed its first case of coronavirus on February 26 last year. In mid-March 2020, the government ordered the closure of Skopje and Ohrid airports to slow the spread of the disease. The airports reopened in July 2020.
