February 14 (SeeNews) - The Romanian unit of Swedish-based property development and construction group Skanska has laid the cornerstone for Phase 2 of Campus 6 office building in Bucharest into which Microsoft Romania plans to move, the companies said on Thursday.
Microsoft Romania has leased 98% of Campus 6.2 as well as two floors in Campus 6.3, the two companies said in a joint press release.
In total, Microsoft Romania has secured around 23,000 sq m of office space where it plans to relocate its employees in 2020.
Campus 6 includes four office buildings with a total rental surface of 81,000 sq m and two underground levels with 1,000 parking spaces.
The buildings are located in the central-western area of Bucharest, near the Polytechnic University.
The first phase of the project was delivered in the third quarter of last year. The completion of the whole complex is scheduled for 2022.
Microsoft is present in Romania since 1992 and currently has 1,300 employees in the country.
Skanska develops commercial properties in select home markets in Poland, Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary, while the residential development is active in Prague and Warsaw.
