March 19 (SeeNews) - Austrian retail properties developer and operator Spar European Shopping Centers (SES) will delay the opening of a 150 million euro ($162 million) shopping centre in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, which was planned to take place on March 19, local media reported.
Considering the current situation with the coronavirus crisis, and thinking above all for employees and clients, a decision has been taken to postpone the opening of Aleja, news daily Delo reported earlier this week, citing Spar Slovenia's CEO, Igor Mervic, as saying.
The Aleja shopping mall will be located in Ljubljana's Siska neighbourhood and is expected to create 700 jobs, state news agency STA reported in January.
SES says on its website that Aleja will host 80 shops, restaurants and service providers on a planned leasable area of 32,000 square metres.
SES already operates two shopping centres in Ljubljana, and one each in Celje and in Maribor.
SES is a subsidiary of Austrian family-owned company Spar Austria Group which has more than 75,000 employees in Austria and six other countries.
