BELGRADE (Serbia), September 30 (SeeNews) – Serbia’s trade deficit shrank by 44.7% year-on-year to $4.57 billion (3.13 billion euro) in the first eight months of 2009, the country’s statistics office said on Wednesday.
The January-August exports fell by 32.6% on the year to $5.19 billion, while imports dropped by an annual 38.9% to $9.76 billion, the statistics office said in a statement on its website.
In August alone, Serbia's trade deficit shrank to $528.2 million from $839 million a year ago.
Serbia's trade gap widened by 46% to $7.41 billion last year.
