October 20 (SeeNews) - Serbia's airports saw their combined passenger traffic decline 60% on the year in the first half of 2020, Eurostat data showed on Tuesday.
The total number of passengers serviced by Serbian airports totalled 1,112,978 in the first six months of 2020, down from 2,775,851 in the like period of last year, according to data posted on the website of Eurostat.
In the second quarter of 2020 alone, the airports in Serbia serviced 94,585 passengers, down 94% year-on-year, Eurostat said.
On March 18, Serbia's government closed its three passenger airports -- in Belgrade, Nis and Kraljevo until further notice for international traffic in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus disease in the country. The airports gradually resumed the operation of commercial flights after a two-month suspension in May.
