April 25 (SeeNews) - Serbia plans to open for traffic the 16.9-km Pojate-Makresan section of the Morava Corridor motorway by the end of this month, infrastructure minister Goran Vesic said on Tuesday.
By the end of September or October work will be completed an additional 10 km section to Kosevo, fully connecting the southern city of Krusevac to the Belgrade-Nis motorway, Vesic said on Pink TV channel, according to a government press release.
The Adrani-Preljine section will be finished by the middle of next year, while the Adrani-Kosevo section will be completed by the middle of 2025, Vesic added.
Serbia signed a 745 million euro ($820 million) contract for the construction of the Morava Corridor motorway with the Bechtel-Enka consortium in December 2019. The Morava Corridor motorway will link European transport Corridors X and XI on Serbia's territory.
The motorway will feature 88 bridges, 29 level crossings and 11 tollbooths. The 112 km motorway will have three sections -- Pojate-Krusevac, Krusevac-Adrani and Adrani-Mrcajevci.
