May 18 (SeeNews) - Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday that the government will meet the local farmers' demands for higher subsidies and milk purchase prices.
Milk purchase prices will be increased from 15 dinars ($0.14/0.13 euro) to 19 dinars per litre in the second, third and fourth quarters of the year, Vucic said as quoted in a statement by his office after meeting with representatives of the Association of Milk Producers of the Macvan District and Association of Cattle Breeders of Central Serbia.

Subsidies for breeding dairy cows will be raised from 30,000 to 40,000 dinars per cow.
On Wednesday, Serbian farmers threatened to block roads in the northern municipality of Vojvodina and parts of central Serbia until the government meets their demands.
