April 15 (SeeNews) - Serbia's Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije plans to invest 2.3 billion dinars ($22.1 million/19.5 million euro) in the overhaul of the railway line linking Markovac to Resavica, in the central part of the country, the state-owned company said.
The reconstruction project will be launched on April 15 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year, Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije said in an e-mailed statement on Sunday.
The overhaul of the Markovac - Resavica railway line will allow to increase the maximum train speed to 65 km/h from 30 km/h, while load capacity will be increased from 20 from 16 tonnes per axle, the Serbian railway infrastructure company said.
Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije was established as a joint stock company in 2015 as part of a reorganisation programme implemented in railway operator Zeleznice Srbije which saw the uncoupling of the different sectors into separate companies.
