June 2 (SeeNews) - Serbia’s energy minister Dubravka Djedovic said on Friday that the country this month will announce renewable energy auctions, which are expected to increase the production of renewable energy sources (RES) almost three times in the medium term.
“We are determined to encourage public and private sector investments in the construction of solar power plants, as well as to continue subsidising citizens in the installation of solar panels,” Djedovic said, as quoted in a statement by the energy ministry.
Serbia will aim to reduce harmful gas emissions by 34% by 2030, she said.
Serbia intends to invest close to 15 billion euro ($16.2 billion) in energy infrastructure in the coming years.
