November 23 (SeeNews) - Serbia plans to take out loans with a total value of 320.5 billion dinars ($3.3 billion/2.7 billion euro) from Chinese banks in 2021, the government's draft budget for next year shows.
The government intends to take a 680 million euro loan for the construction of the Bubanj Potok - Pancevo section of the Belgrade bypass road and borrow 510 million euro for the construction of the Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad motorway, according to the 2021 draft budget posted on the website of Serbia's parliament.
A loan of 440 million euro will be taken out for the construction of the 350 MW Kolubara B thermal power plant (TPP) plant, 272 million euro for a wastewater treatment project in Belgrade, 135 million euro for the construction of the Iverak-Lajkovac road, as well as 60 million euro for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Batajnica.
The government also plans to borrow $610 million from Chinese banks for the construction of the Fruskogorski Corridor road and $60 million for the Belgrade-Surcin motorway section.
Serbia's government adopted on Friday the 2021 draft budget envisaging a deficit equivalent to 3% of the projected gross domestic product (GDP). The draft budget targets revenues of 1.336 trillion dinars and expenses of 1.515 trillion dinars, the government said in a statement.
