- U.S. Steel Serbia will shut down one of its two blast furnaces in Smederevo, in central Serbia, next month aiming to cut costs amidst the downturn, the president of the company’s independent union, Mileta Gujancic, said.

- Belgrade may ask the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to extend its two-year funding arrangement with Serbia, EU Integration Minister Bozidar Djelic said. An IMF mission led by Albert Jaeger has been in Belgrade since Thursday for a review of the country's economic performance under the 3.0 billion euro stand-by funding arrangement signed in March.
