September 30 (SeeNews) - Polish property investment company Scallier said on Thursday it opened a new retail park in Rosiorii de Vede, southern Romania.
Funshop Park in Rosiorii de Vede has a 6,200 sqm gross leasable area (GLA) and houses an array of Romanian and international brands, Scallier said in a press release.
The park is now fully leased.
"The Romanian market is currently highly polarized. Most of the modern retail space concentrates in the capital and some other major cities. Residents of smaller towns must often travel for several hours in pursuit of well-known fashion brands," Scallier Romania development director Adrian Aleman said.
"The problem has been noticed by retail chains, which turn to us when looking for space in non-central Romanian locations. The retail park in Rosiorii de Vede is a prime example of this. We leased the available space a few months before the project was put into operation," Aleman added.
As announced earlier this month, Scallier said it has two more retail parks currently under construction in Romania. One of them, a retail park in Focsani with an area of 5,000 sqm will open in mid-November. The project is nearly 90% leased.
"Retail parks in Romania are unchangeably popular with local and international tenants. This is due, among other things, to the increasing purchasing power of Romanian citizens, as well as to the shortage of modern retail space in small and medium-sized Romanian cities," Scallier managing partner responsible for the company's development on the Romanian market, Wojciech Jurga, said.
Founded in 2011, Scallier is specialised in investment management in the sector of retail parks, regional galleries, arcades and free-standing commercial facilities.
