January 12 (SeeNews) - Trading turnover on Bosnia's Sarajevo Stock Exchange (SASE) rose to 383.7 million marka ($211 million/196.2 million euro) in 2022, from 321.1 million marka reported for 2021, as its share indices closed mixed, compared with a year earlier, the bourse said on Thursday.
A total of 16,149,245 shares changed hands in 3,524 transactions on the bourse in 2022, the SASE said in a yearly trading update.
The 10-share benchmark SASX-10 index of the SASE closed 2022 at 1,057.98 points, up 6.66% compared with its value at the end of 2021.
The broader SASX-30 index, which is composed of the 30 most liquid stocks on the SASE, edged down 1.67% year-on-year to 1,735.61 points at the end of 2022.
The SASE index tracking investment funds, the BIFX, was 1.82% lower on an annual comparison basis at the end of 2022, at 898.21 points.
The Islamic stock index SASX-BBI of the SASE and Bosna Bank International (BBI) closed at 11,303.02 points at the end of 2022, up 4.79% year-on-year. The index tracks 25 companies.
The SASE's total market capitalisation amounted to nearly 6 billion marka at the and of 2022, 8.35% higher compared with the end of the previous year.
Pharmaceuticals producer Bosnalijek [SAJ:BSNLR] generated the highest trading turnover among the SASE-listed companies in 2022. Its shares changed hands in 260 transactions that formed a turnover of 18.7 million marka combined.
The SASE is based in the Federation, one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The country's other bourse, the Banja Luka Stock Exchange (BLSE), is based in the other entity, the Serb Republic.
