January 30 (SeeNews) - Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair is in advanced talks with the Sarajevo International Airport to open a base at the airport, local media reported.
Ryanair is close to reaching an agreement with the Sarajevo airport to open a base at the Sarajevo airport, news provider Klix reported on Sunday.
Regional portal Ex-Yu Aviation reported earlier in January that the Sarajevo airport received one bid from an unnamed single airline in its tender for opening a base at the airport and launching new services from the Bosnian capital in 2023.
Sarajevo International Airport launched the tender in November, shortly after Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air closed its base at the airport. Wizz Air opened its base in Sarajevo in May 2021.
Passenger numbers at Sarajevo International Airport surged to 1.38 million in 2022, from 767,134 served a year earlier, data by the airport operator showed.
