October 21 (SeeNews) - Russian railway infrastructure engineering company RZD International has signed an agreement for the modernisation and reconstruction of the alarm, centralisation and blocking systems of Serbia's railway network, it said.
The contract supplements the agreement for creation of an Integrated Traffic Control Centre for train traffic management in Serbia which RZD International signed with Serbian state-run company Infrastrukture Zeleznice Srbije in January 2019, RZD International said in a statement on Saturday.
An Integrated Traffic Control Center will bring new technologies for the transportation process and constant control over the trains’ movement, increase the throughput of railway lines, optimise operating costs and increase the safety of transportation on Trans-European transport corridors X and XI, RZD International said.
The Integrated Traffic Control Centre agreement includes the creation of a network of traffic control dispatch centres, the implementation of an automated control system, the modernisation of railway telecommunications and other works.
The supplementary agreement was signed in the framework of the visit of Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev to Belgrade.
