February 10 (SeeNews) - Romania's UniCredit Bank said its pre-tax profit jumped 30.3% year-on-year, reaching 91 million euro ($97.3 million) in 2016.
UniCredit generated an operating income of 364 million euro in 2016, up 5.9% on the year, the lender's parent, Italy's UniCredit Group, said in its 2016 financial statement published on Thursday.
Net interest income rose 3.1% to 207 million euro in 2016, while net fees and commissions added 6.1% to 74 million euro.
Customers' deposits rose by 22.5% to 4.8 billion euro in 2016 while loans grew 8.1%, reaching 5.2 billion euro.
In the fourth quarter alone, profit before tax halved to 11 million euro, compared to the respective period in 2015.
The bank operated 160 branches in the country at end-2016.
In August 2015, Romania's UniCredit Tiriac Bank changed its name to UniCredit Bank after UniCredit Bank Austria raised its stake in it to 95.6%.
